NATIONAL NEWS

1. RAC 60m Proposal Accepted

Radio Amateurs of Canada is pleased report that the CPC, Industry
Canada's consultative committee, has accepted the RAC proposal to
establish a 60m allocation for amateurs. It proposes two 25 KHz band
segments for amateurs: 5330 - 5355 kHz and 5405 - 5430 kHz. Amateur
access would be on a non-interfering, secondary basis.

This proposal will be tabled at the CITEL (ITU Region 2 countries
minus Cuba) meetings in Mexico next month, to be considered as the
CITEL position going in to the 2015 World Radiocommunication
Conference (WRC15), where the final decision will be made.

ONTARIO SECTIONS NEWS

2. OPN Needs SET Operators

The Ontario Phone Net is seeking Net Control Stations for the
Simulated Emergency Test on Saturday October 4th. The OPN
will operate from 10 am to 3 pm, and again from 7 pm to 9
pm, on 7.065 MHz SSB. Operators are needed for one-hour shifts.
Volunteers are also needed throughout Ontario to serve as relay
stations, in case of poor band conditions.

If you can help, as NCS or relay station, please contact OPN manager
Shawn VE3PSV, or any regular OPN net control station. OPN meets
daily at 7 pm Eastern time on 7.065 MHz.

3. Hamilton Swapmeet

The Hamilton Amateur Radio Club will hold its annual Hamfest on
Saturday, October 4, in the Old School Building at the Ancaster Fair
Grounds, 630 Trinity Road, Ancaster. This is at the south-west
corner of highways #52 and #53, just west of Ancaster. Note this is
a different building from previous years. General admission at 9 am;
talk-in on VE3NCF repeater, 146.76 (-), 131.8 Hz tone. For more

4. Free Online Magazines

The September 2014 issue of the free amateur television magazine
CQ-DATV is now available for download. You can download it as a PDF
file at tinyurl.com/cq-datv-september.

Also, volume 2 issue 1 of the free radio astronomy publication
RAGazine is now available for download. You can download this
