NATIONAL NEWS

1. BC/Yukon Section Manager Election

Congratulations are extended to Paul Giffin, VA7MPG who was recently
elected Section Manager for British Columbia/Yukon, for the balance
of his appointed term that ends October 30, 2013. He ran unopposed
eliminating the need for a balloted election.

2. Second Region NTS Update

Effective July 1, Second Region net Cycle Two at 1345 local time
will be deactivated. Cycle Three, at 1830 local time, continues.

ITEMS OF INTEREST

3. Calgary Stampede Special Event

From July 5 to 15, the Calgary Amateur Radio Association will operate
special event station CK6S, celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the
Calgary Stampede. Planned frequencies are 3.825, 7.180, 14.250,
21.320 and 28.475 MHz +-QRM. QSL via bureau or direct to VE6A0,
following the CK6S listing on QRZ.com.

All amateurs within the City of Calgary can use special prefixes
CJ6 for VA6 and CK6 for VE6 for the same period. Work 10 Calgary
stations and you can qualify for the Stampede City Award.

4. IARU HF World Championship

The IARU HF World Championship 2012 will take place July 14-15,
beginning 1200 UTC Saturday and ending 1200 UTC Sunday. The
objective of this contest is to contact as many other amateurs,
especially IARU member society HQ stations, around the world as
possible using the 160, 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10 meter bands. The rules
for this year are available at www.arrl.org/iaru-hf-championship.

5. The Rooster Roster

If you happen to be travelling in Eastern Ontario early any morning
and 146.520 is quiet, you might try the Watertown NY repeater on
147.255+ (no PL tone). At 7:30 each morning a great bunch of guys and
gals get together for an informal chat net, called the Rooster
Roster. This net has been going for over 7300 consecutive sessions.

The repeater has excellent coverage, reaching north to the Ottawa
area, west to at least Brighton and east nearly to Cornwall. There
are a great bunch on the Roster each day and they welcome new
checkins, so why not give them a "bean for the pot"?

6. WRTH A-12 Shortwave Schedules Available

The World Radio and Television Editorial team has announced that the
Summer 'A' season broadcasting schedules file is now available to
download, free of charge, from the WRTH website. The 87-page PDF
file is about 3.1 MB in size. To get a copy visit www.wrth.com and
