I've received an e-mail from Peter Kimbell of Environment Canada. The 2013 CANWARN training is tentatively scheduled for Friday, May 31st. Exact time and location (likely the Library or the OPP PCC) to be determined.Mr. Kimbell has a very full schedule this spring and is pretty much only available on the Friday evening. I'll post more when I know more.Thanks,BillVE3TGI
Field Day is fast approaching and we hope you’ll participate! Our goal is to have a successful (and fun) 24-hour exercise to practice our ability to operate under ‘adverse’ conditions. We will meet next Saturday morning at 9:00 at the top of the ski hill, 15 Janey Avenue, for a briefing before we begin setting up. The actual field day exercise begins at 2 p.m. Saturday and runs until 2 p.m. Sunday. Officials have been invited to drop in between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday. We will have two stations in place, and are looking for people to take two-hour shifts. The following are suggestions on what to bring:
• HT Radio FM Simplex 147.450 no tone (Local chat at the site. Please program radios prior to event.)
• Appropriate clothing for rain or sun
• Lawn chair
• Bug dope
• Personal hygiene kit (including any required medications)
• Travel mug
• Plate and cutlery (if staying for meals)
Speaking of meals, our famous chef, Bill, is looking for a rough idea of how many people will be there for meals, and especially how many people plan to eat supper on Saturday. Please email him at ve3tgi@gmail.com [11] to let him know.

HAM-Ex 2013 in Brampton is this coming Saturday, March 23. VE3YO, VE3GMG, VA3BDR and I are headed down. There are 2 spots available if anyone wants to come. I leave my place about 0400ET, pick up Howard and Bruce at Howard's place 0435ET-0440ET and then on to Timmy's, Lakeshore and Marshall to pick up Gerry and grab coffee/breakfast. We leave Timmy's 0500ET. If you would like to join us, drop me a line and I'll reserve a seat or, meet us at Timmy's. There is an eyeball lunch at Swiss Chalet after the hamfest and we should be back in the Bay by 1600ET (+/-). It is a lot of fun and you don't have to buy anything to have a good time. 73/Drew VE3MAF ve3maf@gmail.com [19]
