NATIONAL NEWS
1. New RAC Director for Quebec
Congratulations are extended to Mr. James Keep, VE2KHC, who was
recently appointed as the RAC Director for Quebec for the remainder
of a two year term ending December 31, 2012. Mr. Keep is a Certified
Emergency Coordinator, has trained with the Sécurité Civil Quebec
and is also a registered Radio Amateurs of Quebec Inc. member.

ITEMS OF INTEREST
2. XL2I Special Event
Members of the NA-128 Contest Group will activate the special
callsign XL2I from Isle-aux-Coudres, Quebec between July 23-25, 2010
during the IOTA Contest to commemorate the 475th anniversary of
arrival of the explorer Jacques Cartier.
The group will operate many stations on 6 to 80 meters, SSB, CW,
RTTY, and PSK31. A station will be dedicated on 6m. During the IOTA
Contest, a station will be dedicated to the contest exclusively on CW
or SSB. QSL via VE2CQ (bureau or direct).

3. ISS packet repeater active
The Amateur Radio AX.25 FM packet repeater on the International Space
Station (ISS) is now active on 145.825 MHz.
Amateur Radio Stations callsigns heard via ISS can be seen on APRS
maps. In order to appear on a map, a position report in a valid APRS
format must be digipeated through ISS, then be heard by an internet
gateway station, which then forwards it on to the APRS Internet

4. Ethics and Operating Procedures
The document "Ethics and Operating Procedures for the Radio Amateur"
was adopted by the International Amateur Radio Union in 2008. There
is now a new website, www.ham-operating-ethics.org, where all
official versions in 25 different languages can be downloaded.

5. QRZ Launches Online Logbook
eQSL.cc and the ARRL's Logbook of the World are both facing new
competition. QRZ.com has announced the launch of its online logbook,
which will be fully integrated with the callsign database. QRZ.com
will begin to issue its own operating awards and certificates, based
on entries in its system.
