NATIONAL NEWS
1. GB0BON Special Event
The Welland Valley Amateur Radio Society will operate special event
station GB0BON in June 2011, to commemorate the 366th anniversary of
the Battle of Naseby, the decisive battle of the English civil war
on 14th June 1645.  Our main day of operation will be the 19th June
from 0800 UTC until the  petrol in our generator runs out. The
station will be located at Rupert's Viewpoint just south of Market
Harborough in Leicestershire.  QSL via G4XEX.

ONTARIO SECTION NEWS
2. CANWARN Training, May 7 - May 12
CANWARN training will be offered in Toronto on May 7th, at 9 AM,
at Environment Canada Headquarters, 4905 Dufferin St.
 
Also on May 12th in Dufferin County, at 7 PM, at the Dufferin County
Museum, at the corner of Highway 89 and Airport Road.
If you will be attending a CANWARN training session, please send an
email to Geoff.Coulson (at) ec.gc.ca, so that he can reserve space.

3. Inter-County CANWARN Network
During severe weather events that generate watches and warnings the
Inter-County CANWARN Network will be activated on the Ontario public
service reflector #9030, to co-ordinate severe weather information
between adjacent counties and to provide a direct link with the
Ontario storm prediction centre using the online meta page.

4. New Provincial Association
The newly Incorporated ECOA, Emergency Communications Ontario
Association, an integrated partnership with the ARES Field Service
has now been established to provide and enhance EmComm support at
Provincial and Municipal levels throughout Ontario.

of interest is now available on the new Toronto based website found

ITEMS OF INTEREST
5. Transatlantic Amateur Radio Balloon
The "Project Blue Horizon 5" high-altitude transatlantic balloon
flight, originally scheduled for April 22, has been postponed to
April 27 - 29.  The team is attempting to break current Amateur Radio
high-altitude balloon records for distance and duration. The payload
will be carried beneath a 54,000 cubic foot capacity helium-filled
balloon cruising between 85,000 and 100,000 feet.
During the flight amateurs worldwide are encouraged to monitor the
N2XE CW telemetry beacons at 7.1023 and 10.1466 MHz. The balloon is
also equipped with an APRS beacon at 144.39 MHz using the call sign
