NATIONAL NEWS
1. Slave Lake Emergency Frequencies
The Alberta ARES groups responding to the Slave Lake fire request
that 3.675 MHz, the primary frequency, and 7.135 MHz, the backup, be
kept clear for disaster-related traffic.
ARES is supporting the Slave Lake EOC and the Provincial Operations
Centre until commercial power is restored to the EOC and
communication systems. As of May 18th fires are still out of control
and the risk still exists for communication outages.

2. Kitchener-Waterloo 2 Metre Net
On Wednesday, June 1st, the Kitchener-Waterloo 2 metre net will be
reactivated with a new format. The net will meet every Wednesday at
7 p.m. local time, on the VE3KSR repeater, 146.970 (-), 131.8 Hz
tone. All amateurs are welcome to check in. Please join us!

3. Big Bear ATV Rally
On April 30, Sudbury Amateur Radio Club members helped provide
emergency communications for the annual Big Bear ATV Rally in St.
Charles, Ontario. This was the club's first time providing support
to this event. Thanks to John, VE3VGI for bringing the club's
capabilities to the attention of the organizers, and to participants

4. Central Ontario Hamfest
The Guelph ARC and Kitchener-Waterloo ARC will hold their 37th annual
Central Ontario Hamfest on Sunday, June 5, at the Waterloo Regional
Police Association Recreation Centre, 1128 Rife Rd., North Dumfries
Township, near Cambridge. Open to the public at 9 a.m.; talk-in on
VE3KSR 146.970 (-) tone 131.8, and 146.520 simplex. For more

5. Streetsville Special Event
On June 4th and 5th, the Mississauga Amateur Radio Club will operate
special event station VE3MIS for the Streetsville Bread & Honey
Festival. Operation will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern Time
(1400z to 2000z) both days. For more information visit www.marc.on.ca

6. Volunteer RF Designer Wanted
The SAFE Project is looking for an amateur with RF design skills to
help with the design, PCB layout, and prototyping of an HF amplifier
for the "QRP Warbler" PSK31 transceiver. This will be used for the
SAFE Emergency Messaging System, described at tinyurl.com/webpal.
