NATIONAL NEWS
1. Call for Nominations, Ontario South Director
The Secretary of Radio Amateurs of Canada Inc. hereby solicits
nominations for the positions of Director for the Regions of
Alberta/NWT/NU, Ontario South (postal codes L, M and N) and Quebec.
Elections for these positions will be held in October 2011 to take
office on January 1, 2012 for a two-year term.
Candidates must be a Full Voting Member of RAC, of the legal age of
majority, and must reside in the Region for which he or she is
nominated. You may not nominate yourself.
The nomination form must be printed or typed, clearly indicate the
candidate's name, call sign, and RAC membership number, and clearly
indicate the names, call signs, and RAC membership numbers of ten or
more full voting members of RAC who are of the age of majority and
reside in the Region. The candidate must sign the nomination form
and include a brief biographical sketch, limited to 500 words,
setting out his/her background and qualifications.
Nominations must be received by 3 pm on Thursday, September 1st. Mail
them to Secretary, Radio Amateurs of Canada, 720 Belfast Road, Suite
217, Ottawa, ON K1G 0Z5. Fax or email is not acceptable.

2. Montreal Amateur Radio Club to Host 2012 AGM
The 2012 RAC Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held in Montreal
and will be hosted by the Montreal Amateur Radio Club. The exact
dates will be announced in September or October.
RAC is pleased to come to 'la belle province'. RAC members are urged
to come to the AGM and to consider arranging their schedules to add
a little vacation to take in the sights and sounds of the
cosmopolitan city of Montreal and visit other parts of Quebec.

4. Ottawa Hamfest
The Ottawa Amateur Radio Club will hold its 15th Annual Hamfest on
Saturday, September 10, at the Carp Agricultural Fairgrounds, 3832
Carp Road, in Carp. Tailgaters open 8 am, indoor fleamarket opens 9
am. Talk-in on VE2CRA repeater, 146.940(-), 100 Hz tone. Following
the fleamarket, the OARC is proud to sponsor the RAC Forum and

5. Lake Simcoe Hamfest
The Lake Simcoe Ham Radio and Hobby Show will take place Saturday,
September 10, at the Oro-Medonte Fairgrounds, between Barrie and
Orillia. Go north on Hwy 11 to 7th line of Oro-Medonte (Airport
exit); go past the Airport and watch for the signs. General
admission 8 am; talk-in on VE3LSR repeater 146.850(-), 156.7 Hz

6. K3 Texter
Mike Reublin, NF4L, has created an accessibility program for Elecraft
K3 transceivers. His program reads the responses returned by the K3,
and turns them into text that is displayed on screen, so a user's
screen reader program can speak them. Find it at
