NATIONAL NEWS

1. Address Updates Needed

When RAC members move and do not send a us change of address notice,
Canada Post charges us for returned mail and members do not get their
renewal notices or their TCA magazine.

So please, when you move, send a change of address notice to RAC
Headquarters, or update your information online at www.rac.ca. Please
include your phone number and email address. And if you know a ham
that has moved in the last year, remind them to make these changes.

2. Special Event Info Requested

If you held a special call sign over the past few years, could you
please send an email to the webmaster at rac.ca with the subject line
'Special callsign update' and provide the date(s), call sign(s), QSL
Via, and Event description. It would be a lot of help to our
volunteer QSL managers.

ONTARIO SECTION NEWS

3. TPN Seeks Net Control Stations

The Trans-Provincial Net (TPN) meets daily from 7 am to 5 pm Eastern
Time on 7.055 MHz. The net currently needs more net control
stations. If you can help, please contact net manager Shawn, VE3PSV,
who can be reached Monday through Friday on TPN at 11 am, and again
at 3 pm.

4. FASTRAC-1 Satellite Digipeater Active

The FASTRAC-1 satellite (FO-69) is now open for use as a packet radio
digipeater. Anyone with a 1200 baud packet TNC and a VHF/UHF FM
transceiver can try it. FASTRAC-1 receives at 145.825 MHz and
transmits at 437.345 MHz. The digipeater alias is FAST1. If you own
satellite tracking software, you'll find the latest orbital elements
on the FASTRAC Web site, at tinyurl.com/25sykwb (Two Five Sierra

5. Hamvention Award Nominations Open

Nominations are now open for the 2012 Dayton Hamvention Awards. As in
previous years, the Hamvention will honor three deserving individuals
with the Technical Excellence, Special Achievement, and Amateur of
the Year Awards. A fourth award has been added for Radio Club of the
Year. Nominations must be submitted no later than January 15, 2012.
