RAC Ontario Sections Bulletin for December 27, 2014 This is V__3____, Official Bulletin Station for Radio Amateurs of Canada, with this week's bulletin NATIONAL NEWS ONTARIO SECTIONS NEWS 1. OPN Seeks Relay Stations The Ontario Phone Net (OPN) is currently seeking stations to carry radiogram traffic to, and bring radiogram traffic from, Ontario municipalities and other radio nets. No special qualifications other than HF privileges are required. Merely check into the OPN, any evening at 7 pm Eastern on 3.745 MHz, and inform the net control station that you have traffic, or can accept traffic for some destination. Special Event Station From January 5 to February 4, special event station XM3A will commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Canadian Maple Leaf Flag. QSL via VE3JO. -- RAC Special Events Database 3. JOTA Participation Down The Boy Scouts of America have released a report on the 2014 Jamboree On The Air. The report shows an across the board decline in participation by Boy Scout Councils, individual Scouts, and by amateur stations. Attendance at JOTA took a big jump in 2012 with 18,566 Scouts and visitors; in 2014 the number fell to 13,326. In 2013, 173 Boy Scout Councils were active; this year only 148. But the news was not all negative. The number of Radio Merit Badges earned is growing. In 2013, there were 7,208. -- Amateur Radio Newsline 4. The Earliest Female Hams "The Mary Sue" website has a story about some of the earliest women in radio.
