1. New Certified Emergency Coordinators

Congratulations to Canada's newest Certified Emergency Coordinators,
Peter Gauld VE7PGX of Surrey, BC, and Shawn McDonald VA3MFD of
Burlington, ON.

2. Special Prefixes Authorized

From September 1 to October 30, special prefixes have been authorized
for Canadian amateurs to commemorate the 300th anniversary of Ile
Royale -- modern day Cape Breton Island. Use CJ for VA, CK for VE,
CY for VO, and CZ for VY.

3. WRTC-2014 Team Leader Applications Open

World Radiosport Team Championship 2014 is accepting applications
from individuals who would like to participate in WRTC-2014 as team
leaders. You must use the application form on their website,
www.wrtc2014.org, and applications are due by September 13, 2013.

WRTC-2014 is a competition among two-operator teams. 54 team leaders
will be selected from the top qualifiers in 29 regions around the
world. Each team leader then selects a teammate for the competition.
The team leader qualification formula considers 12 scores selected
from 55 qualifying contests between October 2010 and March 2013.

4. Weather Radio Net

This is just a reminder that the Weather Radio Net is on Wednesday
evenings at 7:00 P.M. on IRLP reflector 9038 and Echolink node
VE3ZHR-L 591897. We try to discuss Weather Radio in both Canada and
the US, but we also touch on topics such as CANWARN and SKYWARN,
among other related items. If you would like to join the mailing list

5. AMSAT.ORG Make Over

AMSAT has revamped their web site, www.amsat.org, with a new, more
colorful theme and some updated content. The AMSAT web site is now
using the popular WordPress package, so it will be easier to maintain
and update, and will be familiar to many users.
