GOODERHAM, Gordon (Tim) - It is with sorrow the family announces the passing of Gordon (Tim) Gooderham, peacefully in North Bay on March 26, 2015, in his 81st year. Tim is survived by his son, Stephen (Tracey), his daughter, Meg (Jean-Paul); his grandsons, Paul, John and Michael; his sisters, Linda (Joe) and Yvette (Don). He is predeceased by his wife, Catherine Isobel. Tim spent a lifetime serving both his country and his community. In 1958, after graduating from RMC Kingston, he joined the RCAF as an Airborne Interceptor Navigator. As a member of the RCAF Tim spent time in Winnipeg, Yellowknife, Cambridge Bay, Resolute Bay, Inuvik, Mould Bay and Vancouver. He was also posted to locations further afield such as Washington, Keflavik, London, and the Azores. Upon leaving the RCAF in 1966 Tim commenced Teaching History, Economics and Political Science at Widdifield Secondary School in North Bay, retiring in 1994. Upon his return to North Bay, Tim reconnected to his roots in Temagami, where he spent much of his childhood and became active in the community. In 1977 he was elected President of the Temagami Lakes Association (TLA). After serving as President he was appointed TLA Executive Secretary. Upon retirement from teaching, Tim moved permanently to Temagami. He was involved in establishing a co-operative grocery store and assisted in the amalgamation of Temagami and adjoining communities in 1997. In 2002, Tim retired from the TLA and spent his summers on his iconic camouflage houseboat on the lake. In 2010, due to failing health, he returned to North Bay to live with his daughter Meg and her family. In keeping with Tim's spirit of giving back to the community, the family asks that donations be given to a charity of your choice. As per Tim's request there will be no service.
