09-05 (May 13th) Meeting Report
Primary tabs
It is terrible how work gets in the way of our leisure activities but I now have a few minutes so am trying to get caught up.
Our May Meeting was held May 13th at the OPP COMM Centre on Goremanville Road. It was a CANWARN Training session and very well attended. I didn't do an actual count but there were in the area of 30+ attendees with hams making up about half of that. Peter Kimbell gave a very good talk and we all learned a lot about sever weather. The sever weather meterologists work in Toronto. They put out a Convective weather statement at 0400ET and 1600ET daily. The coffee and doughnuts were good as well.
Sunday may 24th was the MS Walkathon. In attendance at checkpoint 1 were Dan VE3YUI and Bill VA3WAC. At checkpoint 2 were Gerry VE3YO and Bruce VA3BDR. Evelyn VE3MAA (with our Therapy dog VAL) and Lori VE3LOR walked the route as sweeps (VAL got tired first). Paul VA3PC and I VE3MAF were at the waterfront at the start/finish (where the coffee was). Bill VA3SPT was a rover and took pictures. Look for them on the NBARC website when he gets a chance. The walk took about 2 hours and it was a BEAUTIFUL day for it.
Paul VA3PC was up at the VE3NFM repeater site Saturday and installed the circulator in an attempt to get rid of the interference. Looks like there is still more work to do as there was still interference when he was finished. If you are using VE3NFM let Paul know if the interference has been at least reduced by the installation of the circulator. He is interested.
Paul VA3PC has done some more work on the NBARC website. What was BOOKS is now ARCHIVES. Keep checking back and see if you can figure out what he has updated next. Please log in to the NBARC website (http://ciinet.org/nbarc) and sign up for the newsletter. This will ensure that you keep getting the newsletters in the event I have another failure in my address book.
Our next event is Patrick 4 Life on June 7th. Bill VA3SPT is looking for help. Get in touch with him at silver@ontera.net and let him know you will be available. THERE IS AN EASIER WAY however. If you have logged into the NBARC website across the top there is Event List. Click on it and you will get a list of our upcoming events. Click on the event you will be able to help at and under the event blurb you will see >> attend this event . Click on it and you will be marked as attending and it will change to say >> cancel attendance. If in the future you find you are unable to attend click on the cancel attendance and you will be removed. Please sign up as soon as you can to aid Bill VA3SPT in his planning.
Well that is all I can remember at this time. Our next meeting is June 10th at our regular meeting site on base. I will attempt to send around a reminder.
