ONTARIO SECTION NEWS
1. CANWARN Training, April 17-23
CANWARN training will be offered in Hamilton on Saturday, April 17th,
9 a.m., at Nash Auditorium, Wilcox Building, Chedoke Hospital,
Sanitorium Road.
And in Sarnia on Tuesday, April 20th, 7 p.m, at the Kinsmen Centre,
(Oakroom Room), 656 Lakeshore Road.
Also on April 20th at 7 p.m. in Peterborough, at the Canadian Canoe
Museum, 910 Monaghan Road.
Training in Kitchener will be Wednesday April 21st, 7 p.m., at
Bingemans Conference Centre, 425 Bingemans Centre Drive.

2. Ontario QSO Party April 17th
The 13th Annual Ontario QSO Party will be held from 1800Z April 17 to
0500Z April 18, and from 1200Z to 1800Z April 28. In the contest,
stations outside Ontario make as many contacts with Ontario amateur
radio stations as possible. Ontario stations contact as many stations
as possible, both in Ontario and world-wide. For more information

3. Durham Region Hamfest
The North Shore ARC and the South Pickering ARC will hold the 34th
Durham Region Hamfest on Saturday, April 17, at the Iroquois Park
Recreation Center, on Victoria Street at the corner of Henry Street
in Whitby. Open to the public at 9 a.m.; talk-in on VE3SPA repeater,
147.375 (+), no CTCSS tone required. For more information visit

4. Rookie Roundup April 17th
The ARRL Rookie Roundup, SSB, will be held on Sunday, April 18, from
1800 UTC-2359 UTC. This contest is designed to help newly licensed
amateurs build their operating skills on HF. Any ham licensed in
2008, 2009 or 2010 qualifies as a Rookie. Non-Rookies may only work
Rookies, while Rookies may work everybody. Certificates will be
available for all participants to download; the top five high scores
from each US call area, Canadian province and Mexican call area will
be recognized on their certificate. For more information visit
