NATIONAL NEWS

1. Weather Radio Net new reflector

The Weather Radio Listeners Newsletter net will switch IRLP
reflectors as of Saturday December 8th. The net has moved back one
hour to 7:00 PM ET and it will switch to IRLP reflector 9038. This is
due to a demand for Echolink check-ins and this should also help to
expand the scope of the net. For more information or to sign up for
the newsletter mailing list, email blindgordie (at) gmail.com.

2. VO1DTM Email Change

RAC's Chief Field Services Officer, Doug Mercer VO1DTM, advises that
he has closed his vo1dtm (at) hotmail.com email account. If you sent
an email which went unanswered, that may be why. If you need to
reach him, please use his contact info on page 4 of The Canadian
Amateur, or email vo1dtm (at) rac.ca or dougvo1dtm (at) gmail.com.

3. Ontartio North/East Director Acclaimed

Congratulations are extended to Mr. Bill Unger, VE3XT who was
recently acclaimed as the RAC Director for Ontario North East. Mr.
Unger ran unopposed, eliminating the need for a balloted election.

4. OPN Seeks Net Controllers

The Ontario Phone Net is looking for net control operators for the
Friday and Saturday nets. The net starts at 1900 Eastern Time, on
3745 kHz. If you would like to help out, please contact Shawn VE3PSV
on the Ontario Phone Net, or via NTS message.

5. Ontario-South Section Webmaster Needed.

A webmaster is needed to manage a new Ontario-South Section website
that will be hosted on the new RAC server but will be under the
direct control of the Ontario-South Section Manager. The site will
be open to the general public and its design and content will be
influenced as much by Section club and association needs as those of
the Section management team and Field Service operations. If you
feel you have the necessary skills to develop this website, and are
prepared to accept the challenge of designing a website 'from the
ground up', please contact Section Manager Ian Snow at
va3qt (at) rac.ca.

ITEMS OF INTEREST

6. Doomsday Special Event

According to one of the three Mayan Calendars, the End of the world
will occur on December 21, 2012. To celebrate this once in a
lifetime event, Special Event Station N0D (Now Zero Days) will be
activated for three days during and possibly after the end of the
world. December 20; is a celebration of the end of the world.
December 21, the day of destruction, we will be on the air as long as
possible. December 22...that is a little iffy right now.

Amateur radio stations around the crumbling globe are invited to
contact N0D, who will be operating from a secret undisclosed
location. QSL with SASE to the address in qrz.com. If Doomsday
actually does happen, we regret that a QSL will not be possible so
hold on to your SASE until the 22nd at least. For more information
