NATIONAL NEWS
1. Diamond Jubilee Special Prefix
From December 29 to December 30, Canadian amateurs have been
authorized to use special prefixes in commemoration of the Diamond
Jubilee Year of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Use CF for VA, CG
for VE, CH for VO, and CI for VY.

2. Toronto ARES D-Star Net
The Toronto ARES D-Star net is Tuesday night at 8:30pm, using the
XRF005A reflector on VE3RPT 145.250MHz (-) and VA3PMO 444.250MHz (+)
in Toronto, and linked to other repeaters across Canada and the USA.
The purpose of this net is to promote and exercise the Mutual Aid
Program between the ARES and EmComm Groups in the Greater Toronto
Area and to distribute club activity news of interest to all net
particpants. The XRF005A reflector is located at the Grand River
Hospital in Kitchener, Ontario.

ITEMS OF INTEREST
3. GLETN Time Change
Effective November 30, due to band conditions, the Great Lakes
Emergency and Traffic Net will hold its pre-net at 7:30 pm, and the
main net at 8:00 pm, Eastern Time. GLETN meets on 3.932 MHz, 365
nights a year. All amateurs are welcome.

4. Morse Telegraph in Spielberg's "Lincoln"
Members of the Morse Telegraph Club played an important role in the
production of Steven Spielberg's film "Lincoln." Several members
provided period telegraph instruments and technical advice. With
their help, nine of the sixteen telegraph positions depicted in the
War Department were fully operational.
The Morse Telegraph Club was founded in 1943 to perpetuate the
knowledge, history and traditions of telegraphy. Chapters are located
throughout the United States and Canada. For more information, visit

5. NTS Training Scripts
K.C. Richey, KD8LZB, has taken time to develop five brief training
scripts on the mysteries of NTS and traffic handling. They are short
enough to be incorporated into local VHF and HF net time periods.
