VE3NBC-15 On the air

Body:

Courtesy of Drew and Paul, there is a new APRS digi on the air in Powassan as of Canada Day.
VE3ERX-15 is hooked up temporarily while a multicoupler awaits tuning.
It is hoped it will fill in the holes south of town, but with the antenna up so
high, it may have a hard time hearing vehicles over distant digipeaters.
Time will tell. To see how its performing, look for it on http://aprs.fi
By the way, VE3NFM-15 digi is off the air until its power supply is repaired.

Field Day Info and Thanks

Body:

We made 292 contacts for Field Day 2013, with 50 of them being digital (RTTY and PSK31). Some DX (distant contacts) included Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Although we did contact many areas, the following sectors were missed: ME, NNY, OK, LAX, SF, PAC, OR, EWA, ID, MT, WY, AK, NV, WV, NL MB, BC and NT. Not bad for two wire antennae and 100 watts!I would like to thank every person who helped make this event great. I appreciate the feedback people shared at our 'end of field day' meeting. We have a lot of good suggestions on how to make next year even better. Chris C.

2013 Field Day Information

Body:

Field Day is fast approaching and we hope you’ll participate! Our goal is to have a successful (and fun) 24-hour exercise to practice our ability to operate under ‘adverse’ conditions. We will meet next Saturday morning at 9:00 at the top of the ski hill, 15 Janey Avenue, for a briefing before we begin setting up. The actual field day exercise begins at 2 p.m. Saturday and runs until 2 p.m. Sunday. Officials have been invited to drop in between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday. We will have two stations in place, and are looking for people to take two-hour shifts.

Partick 4 Life Event Report

Body:

We had a great morning last Sunday, the weather cooperated, the runners were plenty, and the flies were few. Thanks to Drew - VE3MAF, Lori - VE3LOR, Howard - VE3GMG, Gerry - VE3YO, Butch - VE3LQV, Rick - VE3ATK, and Bill - VE3TGI we had a successful communications event. The coverage downtown is still marginal with VE3NFM, so we used VE3ERX repeater for the communications.I'm not sure what may be causing this, but it was also noticed that the aprs digipeater seems to not be working. Another thing on my round-to-it list (sigh).CheersPaul - VA3PC
