1. Outstanding ARES ID cards

I am happy to advise that all outstanding ARES ID Cards are now "in
the mail". Please accept my thanks for your patience. We have now
purchased our own machine, so future turnaround time will be days
instead of weeks. RAC also can now produce cards for affiliated
clubs and ARES groups; email me, vo1dtm (at) rac.ca, for details.

1. New Quebec Director

Congratulations to Mr. Sheldon M. Werner, VA2SH / VA6SH, who was
recently elected as the RAC Director for Quebec. Mr. Werner ran
unopposed, eliminating the need for a balloted election. His role as
Director will be for the remainder of a two year term which ends
December 31, 2013. Mr. Werner has been an amateur operator since
1976 and is currently the Vice President for the Montreal Amateur
Radio Club.

1. RAC Seeks a Treasurer

The Radio Amateurs of Canada is looking for a Treasurer who is a
Chartered Accountant, Certified General Accountant or Certified
Management Accountant. A certification in amateur radio is optional.
As RAC's financial advisor, we need someone to provide direction on
the accounts and act as liaison with the external auditors.
Experience with QuickBooks would be an asset.

1. Pitcairn Island DXpedition VP6T

From January 20 to February 4, a DXpedition will operate VP6T from
Pitcairn Island (OC-044, CQ Zone 32). They will be on all bands
160-10 metres, including the WARC bands. If possible, they will
upload to the Logbook of the World and their "ClubLog" during the
operation; otherwise they will upload logs after their return. For
their operating plans, QSL information and other information, visit

1. Operators Needed for Canadian Ski Marathon

The 46th Canadian Ski Marathon (CSM) will be held on February 11-12
in Western Quebec and the Ottawa Valley. The CSM depends on ham
radio volunteers to provide important and timely safety and
logistical communication. We're looking for volunteers right now.

1. RAC Volunteer Appreciation Award

RAC would like to recognize Gary Hyatt, VE3MJT, one of the key
volunteers who provides important support to RAC Headquarters in
Ottawa.

Gary grew up in Ontario and was first licensed as VE3MJT in 1980. He
is a member of the Quarter Century Wireless Association. On behalf of
President Geoff Bawden, VE6BAW and the entire Board of Directors and
Executive, thank you for over a decade of volunteer service to the
Radio Amateurs of Canada.

1. New NARED Manager

Effective immediately, Pat Barrett, VE3RNH, has been appointed
Manager of the National Amateur Radio Emergency Database (NARED). Pat
has an extensive management background and most recently sat on the
Ontario Restructuring Commission. She is active with ARES and the
Barrie Amateur Radio Club, and is looking forward to moving NARED
forward.

1. Address Updates Needed

When RAC members move and do not send a us change of address notice,
Canada Post charges us for returned mail and members do not get their
renewal notices or their TCA magazine.

So please, when you move, send a change of address notice to RAC
Headquarters, or update your information online at www.rac.ca. Please
include your phone number and email address. And if you know a ham
that has moved in the last year, remind them to make these changes.
