June 2010 Meeting Notice

Body:

Just a quick note to remind you about the June NBARC club meeting. It will be held this coming Wednesday June 9, 2010 at the fire hall on base. It is the last meeting before our summer break. We are going to have a Show & Tell. Gerry VE3YO is going to bring his compact/portable APRS set-up and, If I get my set-up running we can do a small demonstration. I am hoping to convince Paul and Bruce to show the difference between the Capacitance Top hat for their HI-Q antennas. Besides our normal reports there will be a short report on the CANWARN Training and the Dayton Hamfest.

MALL DISPLAY

Body:

Thanks to VE3YO Gerry for all his help this past weekend in anchoring the staffing with me in the mall. We had several dozen people stop to visit and talk about Ham radio.

Also thanks to others who volunteered to look after things over the time for a few hours or an afternoon. I include Bill VA3WFS, and Ev VE3MAA who assisted with enthusiasm, as well as Howard VE3GMG, who would have been with us Friday night until a family emergency arose. Also, thanks to Drew for the work in keeping us all posted on the club website.

10-05 (May 19th) Meeting Reminder

Body:

Just a short reminder about the NBARC May Meeting. Don't forget it has been moved to NEXT week, Wednesday May 19th, 2010 and will be held at the PCC on Goremanville Rd. It is our CANWARN Training and all are welcome. If you haven't logged onto the website or sent Paul a message va3pc@ciinet.org indicating that you are coming PLEASE do so he can have enough chairs (and more importantly) refreshments available. I'll send out another blurb next week after we get back from Dayton.

Intro to D-Star with Eric VE3EI (on Thursday - short notice)

Body:

I received a call from Eric Meth, VE3EI who is ICOM's manufacturer representative (I believe) for Eastern Canada.  He will be in Sudbury on Thursday to meet with several two-way dealers, and as he wanted to visit North Bay (last time was 40 years ago) - has volunteered to give a short talk and answer questions about the D-STAR digital amateur radio system.  He's planning to be here after supper, so I booked the boardroom at the PCC for 19:00 for anyone who wants to get together and have a chat.
Its a BYOR affair - Bring Your Own Refreshments.
