2017 Run off the Grid Event Summary

Body:

Saturday dawned bright but cool.
There were some last minute personnel changes, but NBARC was able to cover the checkpoints.
Note to self - We should depart Timmies at 7:20 to get setup completed by race time 09:00.
Thankfully, the 50k started about 10 minutes late (no doubt to allow the frost to burn off the fields).
There were 104 participants registered, but some last minute changes there too, 103 competitors took the field.
Base - Lori VE3LOR, Checkpoint 1 - Jim VA3JGH, Checkpoint 2 - Wanda VE3KOJ, Checkpoint 3 - Paul VA3PC.

Run Off the Grid - Saturday, Sep 20, 2017

Body:

Run-Off-the-Grid is this Saturday, Sept 30, 2015.

This is an event that truly needs us as there is no other means of communication onsite, no cell service.

I will be unable to attend this year due to a commitment out of town.

We would love to see more volunteers since we are going to be operating with minimum radio crew for this event.

Please bring a lunch as this has been difficult in the past logistically. Dinner will be served at the start/finish. It is catered by gd2go , and is always very, very good!

2017 Our Hospital Run/Walk

Usually a quick event. Dress appropriately for the weather. It can get wet/cold.

2017 Mattawa River Canoe Race - Update

Body:

Hi everyone; its a week to go before the race, and we are calling for a couple more volunteers.
Some of our long term volunteers are unable to attend, so we need volunteers for checkpoint 1.
The bonus for checkpoint 1 is that you are first to clear so you should be done around noon.
If you want to hang in for the free evening meal, feel free, but should you wish to depart after
the sweep arrives, that is OK too.
We need someone with cross band repeat capability, as the race checkpoint is not located in an

2017 Triathlon after-action report

Body:

We had five operators out for the Triathlon this morning. We used the NFM repeater, which provided good coverage of our checkpoints.

The Try-a-Tri (the shortened version of the main event) got underway at 08:00, and the first participant was finished 30 minutes later, with the last one running in at probably close to 09:00.

The adult triathlon started at 09:30, with the last runner nearing the finish at 12:30.
