Thanks to all who participated in this event, specifically Rick VE3ATK, Gerry VE3YO, Bill VE3TGI, Chris VE3 YYB, Kelly VE3KLX and Drew VE3MAF. If you have any suggestions for improvements, please email me before our June meeting.
Extra thanks go to Bill for creating and printing out copies of the SMEAC document with map, and for picking up, setting up and returning the equipment used at our base.
The annual Mattawa River Canoe Race.
Please sign up on the event page.
This is a full day event, bring some lunch, supper is provided at the end.
We normally have 3 checkpoints and a base station.
Cheers, Paul
Hello everyone! The P4L SMEAC is complete and attached, along with maps.
For those attending, please have a read when you get a chance. For those that haven't signed up, you can do so on the website. The more help the better!!
I've uploaded a SMEAC template to the NBARC website, along with a sample of a completed one (from this year's Hike for Hospice).
The template is still in 'draft' form, and we'll update its content throughout the summer as we participate in events. By the fall we should have a pretty robust document.
The 2nd Annual Hike for Hospice will soon be here. The walk takes place in the Laurier Woods on Sunday, May 7. Our meeting spot and time are the Brule Street parking lot at 9:30 a.m. A free lunch will be available to NBARC volunteers. If you would like to participate but haven't yet signed up on our website, please do so. We could use a few more bodies. Lori
This is an event that truly needs us as there is no other means of communication onsite, no cell service.
I will be unable to attend this year due to a commitment out of town.
We would love to see more volunteers since we are going to be operating with minimum radio crew for this event.
Please bring a lunch as this has been difficult in the past logistically. Dinner will be served at the start/finish. It is catered by gd2go , and is always very, very good!
Our attendance has been requested by Patrick4Life.
We have only 2 signed up so far, and the event is June 4th.
Please sign up on the website if you can help out.
Thanks, Paul - VA3PC
We have been requested for this half day event.
We usually clear just after lunch time.
Please sign up on the website as per usual.
Thanks - Paul, VA3PC
It was a bit damp at the start, but the weather cleared up about the time the runners hit the course.
Once again 146.52 was not feasible due to the hilly terrain, but VE3ERX saved the day.
There were 27 registered for the 6.4km trail run, but only 25 made it to the race course.
There were many more running on the ring road and in the other events.
Thanks to Gerry VE3YO, Dan VE3DLL, Bruce VA3BDR we were able to track the progress
of the trail runners, and there were no incidents.
Meaghan thanked us on behalf of the Hospital Foundation.
